A wisdom tooth with a strong root.

Writer: Dr Changjie GuoDr Changjie Guo

This impacted wisdom tooth caused lots of pain, inflammation and infection of the gums around it (pericoronitis). Extraction is the only option. But it was not an easy one. From the removed tooth, we can see the curved root with a big lump at the end. This abnormal anatomy created a lot of resistance during the operation. With care and patience, the tooth eventually was removed without damaging any adjacent nerves (mandible and lingual nerves).
